3 Things to Take Away RIGHT NOW from this “Small Business Facebook Page” How-To Guide:
-
Facebook is the single largest social site on the Web, chock full of potential customers
-
However, you cannot go invite Facebook fans. They have to find you…
- You must make Facebook an integral part of your branding, including in your print pieces
- Go to www.Facebook.com and look for “Create a Page” (shown here)
- You will now have to choose between a “local business” (recommended) or a “brand, product or organization”. This is your choice and both of these have drop down menus to further clarify what your business does. Do your best. Facebook doesn’t offer a wealth of categories.
- If you have a Facebook page and want to use your FB login, go ahead (THIS IS BEST because it gives you the option of inviting people via your personal page). Or if you want to create a new account, you can do that here as well.
- Now you can start filling out your profile:
- 1. Put in your business blurb (no hyperlinks, but do put your website address/URL)
- 2. Hover over the question mark (?) and click “change picture”. Put your corporate logo or your own image if you are a solo practitioner here. Facebook will guide you on dimensions/cropping can.
-
Next, select the top tab “Info” which is by “Wall under your fan page name in the middle. Select the Edit Information icon and update info about your business. The more you, the better, including your blog address, Twitter and LinkedIn links, etc.
- Be sure to save!
Now you are up and running, but Facebook pages are limited in reaching out. You can’t do a search and invite people to your page. HOWEVER, having a personal Facebook account allows you to invite people to your page, so do this. Have your friends, family, employees and loyal customers invite people too! We will be writing about marketing your business’s page and what to do with it in the near future so keep checking back!
